Hi folks
Just bought EZKeys after having watched the groove3 videos and I am trying to use it in FL Studio.
Unfortunately only song data (midi notes) are transfered to the fl studio track, no midi CC data.
Can you help me?
Thanks and best regards
Daniel
Hi,
could you please elaborate?
Are you using the plugin in FL Studio and trying to record CC data in FL? Or have you recorded CC data in the Standalone, saved a Project and open this Project in the plugin?

John

Sorry for being unclear. See attached Screenshot
* I am running FL Studio and opening EZKeys / EZDrummer through VST
* Step 1: In EZKeys I am dragging any ezkeys midi-part of the Fusion pack into the EZKeys arrangement part (lower part)
* Step 2: I am dragging the arranged part into an FL Studio channel thus transferring the midi data
=> Playing the part inside the EZKeys plugin sounds nice (with sustain etc)
=> Playing the part outside EZKeys in FL Studio sounds choppy
So if I want to combine EZKeys and EZDrummer in FL Studio, this ruins the nice workflow, as suggested in the tutorial video by https://www.groove3.com/tutorials/Songwriting-Producing-with-Toontrack-Fusion
Can you help me?
Thanks a lot, Daniel
OK,
I see what you mean now. It seems FL Studio converts the Sustain Pedal to note length. If I record short notes to the EZKeys Song Track with Sustain, they get longer when dragged to FL Studio, like they’re extended to the next following note or similar but still not sustained.
This must be some setting in FL Studio I haven’t found yet.
If I perform the same operation in Logic, whether I drag from the Fusion MIDI or record myself, the Sustain performs as expected.
Have you tried asking about this over at the Image-Line FL Forums?

Yes I asked the IL forum, from googlin’ around all I get is a workaround that EZKeys-Midi CC data needs to be imported in a separate step (into the FL midi event editor), probably for each CC channel needed.
As I said: ruins the workflow, kills creativity and I don’t see how I can combine EZKeys and EZDrummer midi-parts together in FL Studio in a user friendly way – like it’s done using the fusion pack in the groove3 tutorial video. Disappointing, but maybe you have another suggestion of how to integrate EZKeys better into FL Studio?
Thanks again, Daniel
Hey John
doesn’t look good:

Not being able to run matching EZDrummer and EZKeys parts in FL Studio in a user friendly way sucks.
Hope the MIDI importer from FL Studio will get the improvement, I doubt that EZKeys can do anything about it.

Thanks for your support!

Hi,
I found out too. A bit clumsy for otherwise such a flexible DAW.
If you leave the Parameter Browser and the Event Editor window open, it gets done a little quicker:
First drag the MIDI from EZkeys to the Channel Rack, then drag the same MIDI from EZkeys to the Event Editor and select to Import CC64.

John

My Friend also has a problem with importing ezkeys midi into fl studio 12.5.
he was using the grand piano patch with the swedish pop preset.
when he drags in the midi file, isn’t the preset supposed to come with it?
all he is getting is the midi file played by ezkeys and the sound is not the same.
Is he doing something wrong?
thank you
Hi,
MIDI is MIDI, a Preset in EZKeys is not the same. Nevertheless, if you drag MIDI from the plugin to a track, it should sound the same when played back from FL Studio. Please, make sure the MIDI is dragged to a track connected to the plugin, otherwise it will be played back by another plugin (I think).

John

Remember to disable Follow Host in EZkeys, if he has MIDI on the EZkeys song track AND on the FL Studio song track. If it’s not disabled – MIDI from both EZkeys song track and FL Studios song track will play at the same time, which can make it sound strange…

Hello, does not work properly EZkeys2 with FL studio? I see in your compatible daws is not mentioned FL studio
Specially what Daniel mentions in the year 2018 makes me worry as I intent to get at some point both Fl studio and EZkeys2
Hi marcosvizcainogerlach,
I wouldn’t say EZkeys2 doesn’t work properly, it is a very odd behaviour from a DAW not to include Controller Data when importing MIDI.
It is still a two times drag-and-drop for MIDI with Sustain from EZkeys2, I’m afraid.

John

Howdy, Can you explain where this event editor is in FL21? That is in reference to your previous post a few years ago. For the life of me I haven’t been able to locate it.
I’ve dragged the midi into the channel rack, and now I’m lost.
Thanks have an awesome day

I’ll add a weird thing I discovered… Under the project tab in the browser if you go down to CC64 and left click it it opens up a slider and and you can turn up the sustain.
Thanks
