Running Logic 10.3.2
Mac OS High Sierra 10.3.1
Standalone works great. The plugins are loaded in the correct VST and Component folders (where my Native Instruments and IK Multimedia plugins reside and are available).
Tried deleting the cache so Logic would scan the plugins again, didn’t work. When I create a software instrument track, EZ Drummer (or Toontrack) is not an option under AU Instruments. I know it’s only the demo, but would like to make sure it works with my DAW before shelling out the couple hundred bucks for the full version (or going for Superior). Is the demo not compatible with this newer version of Logic?
Thanks all.
Hi,
the EZdrummer 2 Demo is a bit older than the full product release, I have to ask my colleagues to be sure but that may be why it doesn’t show up if you have tried deleting the cache.
I am using EZdrummer 2.1.4 in Logic 10.3.2 here on my MBP without problems.

The demo works for me in Logic 10.3.2. If you open Preferences > Plug-in Manager and select manufacturer Toontrack to the left, can you see “EZdrummer Demo” listed? If not, please check in the folder {MacHD}/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components if EZdrummerDemo.component is there.

Thanks for the replies.
I have opened the Plug-In Manager under Preferences, and Toontrack is simply not there (the other manufacturers like Native and IK are). The EZDrummerdDemo.component is in the Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder so I’m pretty stumped. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well.
I saw a recommendation for a similar case somewhere to do this:
1. Move the EZdrummerDemo.component from the Components folder to your desktop.
2. Restart the Mac.
3. Start Logic and quit Logic.
4. Move EZdrummerDemo.component from the desktop back to the Components folder.
5. Start Logic.
If that doesn’t help, please open Applications/Utilities/Terminal and paste the following line and press enter:
auval -v aumu EZdD Toon
… and let me know what it says, if it finds the Audio Unit or not.

Did all the moving and restarting as described and still no luck. When I searched in the terminal I got this message:
AU Validation Tool

Specify -h (-help) for command options

I’ve seen some people had similar issues with EZDrummer 2 when they first upgraded to High Sierra. Maybe that’s the issue since the demo is an older version of EZDrummer?
No idea really, I see no reason for it not to work, but maybe this page contains something you haven’t tried: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/303904/problems-installing-audio-unit-components-on-high-sierra-solved

Thanks so much!
The method that someone suggested on that page (deleting the cache, restarting the computer, then launching Logic Pro X) worked. EZDrummer demo scanned and I’ve been happily banging away.
Again, thanks for your help.
This is a few years later. But I’m running Logic on a Mac Mini (2018) with Catalina OS. I’ve tried the cache deleting options, though my system does NOT have an “audiounits” related item in the library. Nothing with that name string.
In logic under Plugin Manager “Toontrack” does not appear anywhere, not in lists of plugins, not under “Manufacturers”.
I re-installed the Toontrack product manager today and updated everything.
Hi,
I am on Catalina as well and the AudioUnit cache is in your User Library:
‘{Mac HD}/Users/yourusername/Library/Caches/AudioUnitCache’
A shortcut to getting there is to switch to the Finder and click the ‘Go’ menu item and then hold the Option key, which will add the ‘Library’ location to the menu.

John
