Since I am still looking for a quick way to switch kits without fiddling with the touchpad of my notebook, I figured that I should be able to send program change messages from my drum module. I read in a forum that EZ Drummer 2 was able to interpret these messages, but could not find any documentation neither for my Superior Drummer 3 nor for EZ Drummer 2.
Since there seen to be no options for this anywhere in SD3 and since SD3 is not responding to these messages at all (except for bank select CC0 and CC32 showing up in the eDrum mappings menu), I assume that this is not implemented in SD3.
Hence: Feature request 🙂
That is correct. Not yet in SD3.
In EZ2 you can use bank select to select an EZX or target your
user presets. Program change then selects among the factory
presets of the selected EZX or among your user presets.

Thanks for the confirmation. The word “yet” let’s me hope for the future ?
So here we are 1 year later… how about now? 🙂
Hi, I have also been waiting for this feature, but have now made my own solution. I have created a small program with a scripting tool called AutoIt. This program starts after login and reacts on my wireless numeric keypad. The numbers 0-9 selects different drumsets that I have configured.
The program do the following:
– sets Superior Drummer as the active program
– mouse Click in the location of the menu in superior drummer
-Sends the keystrokes «Down»,»Right» and «Enter» in the correct order to activate the drumset.
I can share with you if you want.

I thought this was a no brainer but found out it doesn’t exist. Seems to be a long-standing request.
Still nothing? Guess I’m ditching SD3…too bad, too. Sounds great and easy to use, but not ready for use on stage.
Or how about the ability to change individual instrument sounds (e.g. select a different snare) from within the DAW or by using MIDI?
Honestly it would make SD3 WAYYYYY more powerful for me as a producer.
Has this functionality made it to your 22/23 roadmap? It would be very helpful to know no matter if it’s a yes or no.
Agree with mickaelsen, more visibility on this feature would be greatly appreciated. It’s been a long time since the request was made now.
Yeah, either Toontrack isn’t interested in Live Performance, or they recognize that they are lacking in so many areas (for example, Â not having a dynamic cache manager or optimizer), that it’s more of an SD4 feature to come. With no clarifications from Toontrack, I’ll invest further with the competition.
Aside from OS level scripting described earlier, one could try loading multiple instances/tracks of the SD3 VST in a DAW and midi-automate the switching b/w tracks. A lot more complex if you don’t otherwise have a use for the DAW.
