Selecting an articulation by clicking on Center, Rimshot etc results in max loudness of the articulation. I’ve marked the buttons in red:
Is it possible to click without playing the articulation in Superior Drummer version 3.0.1?
When this is not possible, I suggest to play a soft articulation when clicking on the left side of the button, up to maximum volume on the right side of the button.
Yes, you can do that. This is from the manual:
If you would like to preview the sound of an instrument without selecting it, hold down Command + Options (Mac) and click the instrument (Control + Alt + Click for PC). Conversely, it’s possible to select an instrument without previewing its sound by holding down the Shift + Option while clicking (Shift + Alt + Click for PC).

Thanks Henrik! Shift + Alt + click on PC answered my question.
I suggest to add this shortcut combination to chapter “3.4 Drums Tab Header Bar” | “Articulation Menu”, because this shortcut is described in a different chapter “3.2 The Drum Kit Graphic Interface”. I was not aware of this by reading reading 3.4.
FYI: I tried combinations like Control or Alt or Shift, but Shift + Alt + click is not a common shortcut combination on PC. Anyway, no problem to learn this combination, just my feedback. Thanks again for your help.
