The time signatures and tempos are handled in your DAW. S2 will play back the MIDI in whatever time signature or tempo that your DAW is set to (tempo track changes or time signature changes).

In Cubase 9.5 SD3 do follow the tempo but not time signature changes it seems. September 2018.

Sorry, I just realised (how) you change the time signature inside of SD3 in order for it to follow the bars played in the DAW.

I have made a track in Reason 11 with multiple time signatures but when I open SD3 as an instrument in reason it doesn’t follow the automated time signatures changes. Is there any guidance in the SD3 manual on this?

The time signature changes in the Song Track would need to be manually inputted (see the manual). Tempo changes can be relayed from host to plugin (Follow Host) but time signature changes won’t automatically be displayed on the Song Track so you’ll have to manually add them.

Just to add: you can export a MIDI file from Reason with the tempo and time signature changes and Import that information to the Song Track in SD3 via the Song Track Menu. This way you can have the SD3 Song Track reflect the changes without having to add them by hand.
