Hey guys,
Just got a Yamaha DTX700K and am trying to get it running in SD2. So far everything works great but the variable hi hat. Are there any videos out there that deal with setting up this kit with SD2? Or does anyone have any keymaps they’ve already made that work really well?
As far as the steps I’ve done, I’ve selected the 700K as the kit in Options and I’ve loaded the E-Drums Yamaha keymap.
The issues:
-most of the hi hat plays, I believe an A#1 (don’t have it in front of me but I think that was the note), but one spot of the hi hat plays an F#4 (again, may be off by a note or two). This spot is slightly to the left of centre on the bow of the hi hat. The important thing to note is this spot plays a mid tom with the E-Drums Yamaha keymap selected. I know I can edit this but it seems weird that the keymap specifically designed for a Yamaha drum kit would have a tom playing on the hi hat out of the box.
-the variable response seems really weak. Like, the hit hat will kind of sound open and and kind of sound closed but it doesn’t really feel tight the way a real hi hat does. On the 700 module itself so far I can get the hi hat sounding more like what I would expect a real hi hat to sound like by editing the clutch to be about +15.
So yeah, if anyone has any suggestions for how to set the hi hat settings in SD2 specifically for a Yamaha DTX700K that would be much appreciated.
Hi,
you are not both selecting the Controller type as ‘E-drums’ (under Options in Toontrack solo) AND selecting the ‘E-drums Yamaha’ MIDI Preset on the Mapping page?
Just select the MIDI Preset and experiment with the Pedal correction curves found in the same place as the MIDI Presets. When you’re satisfied with the response – save your own MIDI Preset.

Options -> Controller is set to Default. So it’s set correctly then?
After a firmware update and factory reset the hi hat seems to be responding much better.
Yes, that is correct.
Which version number is displayed in the top of your Superior 2 interface?
