Hey Toontrack Folks,
My first thought about the Southern Soul EZX was “this sounds awesome!!”. My second thought was “Ugh, another EZX that makes me feel like Superior is taking a back seat”. I know asking this question in a forum will not elicit the response I am looking for, but I am always tempted to jump onboard with these awesome EZXs but my heart is with Superior and the SDXs. Every time an awesome EZX comes out (which seems fast and furious these days) I want to buy them up but I tell myself to hold out for the next awesome SDX or maybe even Superior 3! So I am left wondering, should I be losing hope for anything “Superior” related in the coming months or is there a nugget of hope that can be dropped so I can decide where the best place is to either wait or buy now using my hard earned money. Superior stuff tends to be a bit pricier so I try and hold out and not get dinged here and there for $90 bucks to have something big drop for Superior. I know your business model isn’t built on suggesting future products that may impact the selling of new ones but I am dying over here!
Based on your lead up with EZDrummer 2, I would expect something like that would be happening if anything big in the Superior world was happening. Just wanting to figure out how to budget my Toontrack money that you guys tempt me handing over so often!!!
Keep up the awesome work!! I always look forward to what’s next and always want to immediately buy pretty well everything you release!

Also, I added the Southern Soul EZX to “My Cart” and got a message that it requires EZ Drummer 2.
Since I own the “flagship product”, Superior 2, I’m irritated that I can’t open the new libraries. Well, I have looked for any indication that the EZ Drummer 2-specific libraries will open in SD2 and have not found anything. What’s up with that? Even if you offered us SD2 owners a steep discount on EZD2 so that we could use these libraries until the next SD release, it’d be a good customer service move.
Hi Kerry,
Superior 2 can indeed open EZdrummer EZX:s. Version 2.4.3 is required for the Souther Soul EZX.
If the Web shop doesn’t let you add an EZX to your cart when you own Superior 2, please let me know and I’ll alert the Web Master.

Glad to hear that us Superior 2 users can open EZ drummer 2 EZX drumsets. But why don’t they just say so in their promo’s ?

Because they want to sell EZD2 since their bigger market is made of songwriter/musicians who want it more in a preset, ready-to-play format, which EZD2 is…and SD is not.
I too am an SD user, and while I do own EZD1 and a bunch of EZX packs, II just use them with SD and I never use EZD1, nor do I plan on ever buying EZD2….and yes, I too wish they would focus a bit more on new SD packs, but they cost more, and it’s easier and more cost/profit effective to just go EZX packs which are b oth EZD2 and SD compatible.
