Hi guys,
I am working with EZD2 and a lot of your EZX drum packs but since I have EZD2 I became aware that I really need a new Feature, that is not available in EZD2.
First in a short overview: All fields in EZD2 that are labelled with “Drop MIDI data here” or similar should also be open to be supplied from “outside”, that is drag and drop MIDI drum data from DAW tracks back to EZD2 to get additional proposals for Songs or similar drum Patterns within EZD2 libraries.
Here my text to the Support I worte, because I first thought it was bug or I do something wrong, but the feature is not implemented.

Hi dear Toontrack guys,
thank you for your fast answer. This is really a pity that I cannot drag “back” MIDI data in to the Tap to find field. I mean
this is the same when I tap midi with my keyboard or my e-drum into that field.
The case is: I had done a whole song in EZD and then dragged it into the DAW. In EZD I deleted all information by accident. Later I wanted to add some stuff in the DAW again with the help of EZD just as before, but I did not know anymore what I used in EZD. So I thought I take the “key” pattern back to EZD and drop it into the tap to find field to find again all proposals that EZD did before for me too.
So there is really a very good USE CASE for that feature to drag back MIDI into EZD to find further patterns there. I am sure I am not the only one who needs this feature.
Another Use Case:
Assume you have a wav file and there you extract the drumpart converted into MIDI in your DAW. Then you want to see what EZD is offering me as similar patterns. So I need to drag the MIDI from the DAW to EZD to find the EZD patterns and proposals for a song. The same is valid for self created MIDI patterns in the daw without EZD or from the time before EZD2 was released.
So hereby I ask you to implement that feature described above My proposal as a customer feedback to you
I can imagine that a lot of people will like this, especially if you describe my use cases above … you also could market these very well too I think.
Thanks and best regards
Armin Hechler-Stark
Dragging and dropping MIDI from DAW to EZD2 is available now in some DAWs. It is a DAW feature and isn’t something Toontrack has control over. There is the record function in EZD to play MIDI that is already in your DAW into the EZD2 Songtrack. Which can then be dragged into the Tap2Find.

Hi,
thanks for that very fast answer At least it helps to get the functionality, that I like to have. I did not yet have that idea to record again a MIDI pattern into EZD.
You wrote that the dragging from DAW into EZD2 is available now. Could you please tell me if Cubase 6.5.5 also is able to do it ?
Is there then an update of EZD2 necessary.
If I touch a MIDI part in Cubase and pull it over EZD2 it really shows the symbol to put it in e.g. the tap 2 find field. when I am over that field in EZD2. But it does not work. So at least it is recognized that I am “over” a field where I could drop something. Looks at least like that.
Best Regards

I believe that Cubase 7 or higher has that capability. Cubase 6.5.5 does not.
