I find programming in Logic Pro much easier, for starters the screen is bigger.
Working on velocities and intricate stuff seems faster when your not squinting.
Also you have a full range of fast editing and microscopic edit features, simple cut and paste is easier.
Also the idea od midi files living in a song along side your othe midi and audio is easy archiving.
The midi is still live and does not even need to be rendered as audio unless you really need to.
You need to be good at editing in your Daw so might swell just chuck it straight on a track and get to work.

I often build up the track inside EZdrummer 2 because of the easy handling of power hand etc. If I want to make fine adjustments (like changing velocity on one note etc) I drag it out to Logic and edit it from there. You can keep all your MIDI blocks on the track in EZdrummer 2 even if you also have them in Logic. Just uncheck “Follow Host” (a button found beside the Song Creator button) and EZdrummer 2 won’t play its track while you play the track in Logic.

So you’re saying that it wouldn’t matter if we ever copied (or dragged or whatever) from the ez drummer track To the Logic track? The bounce would be unaffected?
Question: if we did see need to “fine tune” notes or whatever within the logic piano roll, and our ez track is a broken up series of midi sections (vs, chorus, vs, bridge, so on)…how would we drag ALL of the sections at once…is there some sort of “select all” method? Great product btw.

The MIDI will sound the same, no matter if you play it from the EZdrummer 2 song track – or from the DAW’s song track.
You can select all the MIDI blocks by right clicking on the track but not on a block, and use “Select All”.
You can also click and drag to select multiple files – the same way you do to select multiple files on your desktop in Windows or OS X.
Further – you can also click on the leftmost MIDI block and then shift + click the rightmost MIDI block, all the MIDI block in between will then be selected.

Note that if you drag multiple files into your DAW, all files will be merged into one file on the track in the DAW. We can’t do anything about that unfortunately, it’s up to the DAW manufacturers…

hi, following this post, I’ve noticed when you play file in EZ the sounds are different from when you play it in DAW, reaper in my case, the sound are dry and no effects, any advise? I did activate EZ plugins in reaper

How are you routing out from EZD2 to Reaper? A single stereo output or multi output? Are all EZD2 channels routed to a output to Reaper?

Hi Scott. I was only using drag n drop into reaper for more edting flixibilty drum measures . newb here.. Will appreciate advice

You will need to be more specific about your process.

Here’s how I do it:

– Click ‘Track’ (or ‘Insert’) in Reaper
– Click ‘Insert Virtual Instrument on new track’
– Click ‘Instrument’ in far left column (should be already selected)
– Click ‘VSTi: EZdrummer (Toontrack) (32 out)’
– Click ‘OK’
– A pop up menu will load and ask if you want Reaper to build 32 outputs. For now click ‘Cancel’ instead of ‘OK’. This will get you started.
– EZdrummer will open

Then, the MIDI you drag and drop onto that track will play the EZD sounds.

If all of the EZD2 mixer channels (including any FX channels) are routed to the same output (say, output ‘1’), and the FX channels aren’t muted or the faders down, I’m not sure why you wouldn’t hear them.

Hi, What is the best way to move the midi completed song from ez drummer2 to studio one 4.5. I have an ez drummer track on studio one and it plays the part when i press play on the DAW but the track looks blank? I’m wondering if it will mix down with my other instrument tracks like that…Any thoughts? Thank you…..Martin

You can either just drag the MIDI from EZdrummer 2 to Studio One, or bounce the audio from EZdrummer 2 (in the track menu found in the right top corner of the song track, Track > Export Song as Wave File…)

I like this, being able to drag it directly onto a track for micro edits once it’s done macro editing as far as you want to go in EZD2.

What happens though if you want to change it again in EZD2? Can you just drag the whole thing back over from the DAW track, into EZD2’s track? Would it lose any micro edits in the translation?
