Hi toontrack and everyone,
I’ve been saving up for quite a while to buy your fine looking product, and I have some questions I’d like some answers on that google is having a hard time with.
First of all, I’d like to run ezd via toontrack solo, as I don’t own anything to use it as a plugin. I would like to be able to tap-program drum beats, quantize & save, and take to the next room in my house to play through speakers next to my guitar amp. One person said that you cannot save tracks as a sequence if you use ezd with the solo software though, can anyone confirm? If this is the case, what features CAN be used with the software combination?
And lastly, can you set a standard desktop keyboard as the various drum kit triggers or do I need to use one of my midi devices? (I’ve seen people using the mouse, just curious if you can bind the keyboard custom, and of course whether or not this function works with ezd+solo).
Thanks in advance for your time and input, everyone.
EZDrummer2 installs as both a plugin and a standalone application.
You will not need Solo to use EZDrummer2 negating the ‘issues’ about saving tracks in Solo (whatever they may be?).
Creating, saving & recalling programmed sequences or songs is core to EZDrummer2’s fundamental new features.
Regarding use of your alphanumeric kybd as a controller, you don’t mention whether you’re using a PC or a MAC.
Almost any MIDI controller is preferable to using the mouse as a trigger.
Thank you for that information. Yes I was not aware ezd2 comes standalone. I use a PC by the way since that seems to be a variable in keyboard-map functionality? I have a korg nano-key I can use if necessary. I Appreciate your reply, and am very enthusiastic from your response.
So I’m a mere payment away from not needing a damn drummer to jam anymore eh? Do my original needs sound easily met by ezd, as someone who is familiar with the program such as yourself?
EZdrummer 2 doesn’t have a built in function to allow you to use your regular keyboard as a MIDI input. Many DAW’s has this feature built in (Logic, Cubase etc). So if you want to run the stand alone and need to control MIDI, use your nano-key! I use that one myself and I find it very useful and easy to carry with me when I travel and want to create beats on the fly
