I bought EZD2 specifically for its advanced editing features that it has over my existing SD2 …., and while they are great , they are already severely handicapped because when searching for suitable midi files using TAP 2 FIND , EzD2 does not search through our 3rd party midi groove libraries or our user libraries , which is a PITA.

The tagging feature does hot have to apply to this requested capability , pleeeeeaassse – for now ………………………….,

– just make “tap to find” access these 3rd party + user libraries ….,
– in fact , I dont even use the tags ….., because tap to find does its job so well,

– and there is no reason why the mathematical beat detector algorithm cannot access these 3rd Party Libraries already ?

Please Toontrack Please , you have come this far , please give us the icing on the cake ?

I’m guessing that A) applying this search to 3rd party MIDI is harder than it seems on the surface and/or B) Toontrack is worried about undercutting sales of their own MIDI content, which right now have the distinct advantage of being searchable.

I hope it’s not the latter, because I think that would be very short-sighted on Toontrack’s part. Because while making 3rd party MIDI content searchable might slightly depress Toontrack’s pure MIDI library sales, it would also make EZD2 an absolute must-buy and essential tool for *anyone* who owns 3rd party MIDI drum content, since it would instantly transform how accessible and useful those libraries are. (I have a ton of 3rd party MIDI drum content, but it’s kind of a PITA to wade through since it’s a *manual* process to review the different beats).

I’m kind of shocked actually that this kind of MIDI search function isn’t somehow built into DAWs already (or at the very least, that some 3rd party manufacturer hasn’t coded it). I’m guessing that we’ll start seeing this feature in DAWs and drum plugins going forward — Toontrack as *really* created a useful function here!
