Some DAWS allow drag and drop from host to plugin, some don’t. If yours doesn’t, you can record the MIDI file from your DAW into the EZD 2 Song Track using the EZD 2 record button.

another option — i think it’s an option although i haven’t yet tried it so someone correct me if this is wrong — would be to export the midi file from your DAW and save it wherever you wish, then use the import command in EZD2. scott’s suggestion above sounds like fewer steps, however.

Yes you can export then import. But I think using the record option is just EZier. ;-)

Although as I re-read the OP the question appears to also be about searching for matching grooves after getting the midi from the DAW into EZD2.

Scott, I recall reading in another post that searching for matching grooves only works with midi that is natively in EZD2 in the first place. In other words if a user creates midi some other way and imports it into EZD2 it’s not possible to search for matching EZD2 grooves.

    Is that correct?

That is correct – EZdrummer 2 can at the moment only use Toontrack MIDI for the search results in Tap2Find.

Will this please be extended to other user midi? I have mostly all ToonTrack Midi, but a few others that I would really like to be included in similar grooves I’m searching for.

Thanks for the feedback, it is noted :)

I’m in the habit of creating drum tracks using Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 with a Roland JV-1010 (all General Midi) I also use pro files from TranTracks & Midi-Hits. I’m now transitioning from Cakewalk to Sonar X3. Can I use general midi drum tracks that I now use with EZ Drummer 2? 2nd question – is it easy to load tracks you’ve created in EZ Drummer 2 into Sonar. Will the drum maps line up? Everything I’m familiar with is built on General midi. Can I download a drum map/list showing how EZ Drummer handles it’s drum sounds? I’ve been watching the new tutorials and am extremely excited about what I see. Last question – can the stand alone version of EZ drummer 2 sync to MTC on it’s own? Thanks Eric

    Hi,

EZdrummer 2 is indeed General MIDI (drums) compatible. The exception would be General MIDI percussion programming.
The standalone does not sync to MTC on its own.

I guess I just happen to use the two hosts that DON’T support it :x

Yeah, me too but I find the record to Song Track workaround isn’t much of a big workaround – it’s pretty EZ Wink
