I’m using Cubase Elements 7 and EZDrummer 2. I’ve been searching for an answer to this question since upgrading to EZD2 (OK… that’s only a week ago!) but I haven’t had any luck.
I know I can save my EZD2 song to a stereo WAV file and then import it into Cubase, however I’d like to be able to bounce each multitrack output (i.e. Kick, Snare, Overheads etc.) to an audio file so that I can work on it in my DAW without having to keep the EZ2 VST Instrument co-resident. I’ve seen a video of someone doing it with ProTools LE and EZD, but he was able to redirect each EZDrummer output back to a new audio input in the DAW, and as far as I know that’s not possible in Cubase – my only options for input bussing seem to be from my audio interface, and not from a VST.
I’m not talking about setting up multitrack VST automation lanes… I can do that, and control the outputs from EZD through the MixConsole. That’s slick, but I’d like the actual audio. Apparently it’s possible to do this in Superior Drummer but I haven’t been able to find anything on it in the EZD2 documentation.
I know I can do lots of preprocessing with EZD2, including effects, but it would be nice to be able to work out all the MIDI wrinkles in EZD and then do the rest of the mix in audio files in Cubase without the extra CPU load of VSTs.
I hope that made sense!
Thanks for your help,
Joe
