Help needed!!!! I recently purchased ezdrummer from amazon and it’s been a nightmare from the moment I put the disc in. Firstly it wouldn’t install anything. Having read comments on this forum and amazon’s reviews, I discovered that I would have to create a toontrack account and register my product using my serial number and then download the entire thing. Done all that, and also downloaded and installed all the latest updates as recommended. I watched the video tutorial and followed the instructions but when I click on Toontrack solo, the authorization screen which is supposed to contain the computer ID doesn’t show up?? Also, I’m not even sure if I should be opening Toontrack solo as I’m trying to use ezdrummer through Cubase. I opened Cubase and searched high and low for ezdrummer but can’t find it anywhere. Is this because the computer is still not authorized for ezdrummer? If so, why isn’t the authorization screen appearing? As you can gather, I’m not great with computers… I’m at a loose end here. Someone please give me the answers. I’m using a Windows PC, Windows 7…I think?
Toontrack Solo acts in the same role as Cubase, it’s a host program. You load EZdrummer in either Solo or Cubase but not both at the same time. When you first open Solo, do you get a dialog box that asks if you to ‘Open Project’ or ‘select which drummer to use’? Is EZdrummer on the list to select? If so, you should be able to click on it and EZdrummer will open and ask to be authorized. If not, you may need to set the path. You can set the path in Solo from the ‘Options->Set Paths…’ and set the path to the .dll where you installed EZdrummer. Possibly in the Cubase VST plugin folder.

Ok, but when I open Cubase I can’t find ezdrummer anywhere. When I first open Solo, a small window appears asking me to either ‘open project’ or select which drummer to use. EZDrummer is highlighted in the box. If I click on ezdrummer, the window disappears and the drum kit appears allowing me to click the drums and make sounds. If I click ‘open project’ it takes me to all my files…guessing, I’ve tried to open the Cubase one and the toontrack> ezdrummer one but theres nothing in the files. So again, I’m not being prompted for authorization. Any ideas? Should I even be concerned with toontrack solo if im trying to use ezdrummer through Cubase?
You shouldn’t be concerned with Solo if you want to use Cubase. I’m more concerned as why the authorization screen hasn’t popped up but it can play sounds. Have you ever installed the Lite version of EZdrummer? Can you tell me the version number that appears on the EZD in Solo? Can you check the install location and make sure Cubase is set to look in that location in Cubase? Also, are you using a 64-bit Windows 7 machine? Are you using a 64-bit version of Cubase?

Ok, I didn’t think I should be concerned with toontrack solo. A friend of mine tried to install a copied version of ezdrummer before when I had Cubase 6 but it wouldn’t work. So I upgraded to Cubase elements 7 as recommended and ezdrummer still wouldn’t work. That’s when I decided to uninstall the copied version of ezdrummer and purchase the real copy from amazon. Can you tell me where to find the EZD number in solo? I’m not sure how to check the install location? Sorry, I’m pretty clueless about this kind of thing. Yes, I am using a 64-bit windows 7 machine and I’m using a 64-bit versionof Cubase.
Version number should be in the lower right corner of the EZD interface. I’m afraid I can’t help much with the authorization part. There is some residual registry entries from using the copied version that I have no idea how to remove. You can check the install location from Solo. ‘Options->Set Paths…’ and make note of the path.

The lower right hand corner when I open toontrack solo? There’s nothing there. The window pops up asking me to select which drummer to use, and after I click ezdrummer, the drum kit window appears and that’s it. The install location says c:program filesVst pluginsToontrack Is there a way in which I can locate ezdrummer in Cubase that I’m not seeing? Maybe if I was to find that and click that it would prompt me to authorize the code?
No, the lower right corner of the EZdrummer interface that you open in Solo. The latest version is 1.3.3.

Setting the path to EZdrummer in Cubase is from Devices Menu->Plugin Information. Make sure you have added that path c:program filesVst pluginsToontrack

Okay It’s version 1.3.3. Okay, I’ve done exactly that, I’ve added the path and I can now see ezdrummer at the bottom of the Vst plugin list. Now I’ve selected instrument track and I have ezdrummer, the drum kit window has appeared! Finally getting somewhere. Still not been asked for any authorization code though? Is that me all set now?
Like I said above, my guess is that when you installed the ‘copied’ version from your friend, it screwed up the registry so the legit version can’t be authorized properly. I don’t know how to fix that.

Well it seems to be working? I’ve managed to open up ezdrummer and I can select the groves etc I want and drag them over to my tracks. Can you tell me how I write my own drum patterns from scratch?
