This is either an Alesis Trigger IO issue or a Superior Drummmer 2.0 issue. I’m thinking it’s more likely to be an Alesis issue but I wanted to check here just in case.
So I can’t trigger my rim sound on any of my dual zone drums.
My setup:
RET Percussion electronic kit. All drums are for sure dual zone; there’s a secondary trigger attached right onto the shell for the rim click.
Alesis Trigger IO
Superior Drummer 2.0 on my Macbook.
The rims just trigger a soft drum sound. Am I supposed to fix this within SP2.0? I would think I could just use the Alesis Trigger IO to tell the software that the head and the rim are two different midi sounds but I simply can’t. Every time I try to assign each of them a different note with the Alesis it just changes both of them at the same time to the same midi note.
I know that my dual zone triggers DO work because one time I actually did get the cross stick sound. It was totally random. I hit it and heard it and was like “Oooh! It finally stated to work!” I hit it again and it was right back to it’s normal not-working state. I keep searching the internet and looking through manuals but I can’t find a solution. Other than this ONE thing the Alesis Trigger IO and SP2.0 are working really well. All drums respond really well with full dynamic range. I just can’t get rim click sounds!
