I’ve been using SD 2 for years and I’m very satisfied with it but I’m tired of programming it with a mouse or a midi-keyboard. So I decided to get me an E-drum set but since I’m not a drummer I don’t really know much about e-drums, I’ve been reading some stuff but I’d need your advice what would be the best for me.
I only want to use the SD sounds, so I don’t need a module that has 5000 kits and gazillions of samples. I think one KD, SD, HH, 3 toms and 2 cymbals would do it for me. I’d like to be able to controll lot of HH articulations, for example opening it smoothly and I also want to be able to make rimshot hits and snare flams.
Would the TD 4 or TD 6 be allright for this? I’m also open for used stuff and would like to spend 600 – 700 bucks maximum.
Any held is appreciated
60 views and non single answer?! Not to sound demanding but can anybody help me out on this one? I’d particularly like to know how good the TD 6 works with SD 2. Drop me a bine please 😉
I’ve had a lot of success in using the Simmons SD9K. It’s a little on the pricier side but definitely worth every penny. Just to give you a quick overview, it has 1 snare 1 kick 4 toms 1 hi hat 2 crash 1 ride that comes with it, along with 2 auxiliary inputs for additional drum/cymbal pads. The hi hat pedal is surprisingly accurate as far as sensitivity goes. If you’re using an external drum emulator like EZ or superior each pad will pick up on the slightest tap. The kit comes with its own module and all you need to do is plug in the usb and you’re good to go!
I’ve been using the Roland TD12 and I’m totally satisfied with the triggering I’m getting once I got it all set up.
I use it like you want to. When I have a song that won’t allow low latency because of too many VSTs etc I use the Td sounds while recording. The reason I got the TD 12 was because of the HH triggering and positional sensing on the SD and Ride cymbal.
I just bought an AKAI MPD 18 Pad controller. Doesn’t seem to lineup with the mapping on ez drummer or SD 2.x is this normal.
Thanx
