Do different drum samplers (Toontrack, BFD, Geist, etc) tend to use the same keyboard mappings? I assume that at least all of Toontrack’s kits have the same mappings, right? For example, is B2 usually a kick, D2 a snare, etc. Is it best to leave them as they are if you will be switching between different kits? If they are the same, it would probably make sense to just get used to it rather than spend time customizing the mapping. Thanks.
Hi,
Toontrack has a mapping scheme based on GM but extended, so it is called GM Extended. This allows for exchanging of Toontrack Sound libraries in a project easy and Toontrack MIDI libraries can be used with all Toontrack products.
Other plugin manufacturers do not necessarily follow the same scheme but most are at least GM compatible, I would dare say.

I have found that the mapping is not the same when I swapped out my basic kit in DFH EZX for the Metal Machine EZX kit. Where they were previously crashes, I am now getting a ride hit. I downloaded the update for MM, but I’m not sure what it updated exactly. Either way, I’m still having this problem.
