Damn, I have spent a lot of time trying to find an appropriate roll or beat for a project and am now left with serious carpal tunnel problem in my neck and shoulder trying to analyze the midi files.
I would strongly suggest that TT add a F key (program a key) that a user can access (rather than the mouse) to move the midi files along instead of keeping the mouse focused on the little arrow.
This feature would help immensely in my opinion. I know that there are not enough people complaining about this issue but I do hope someone else will find this a benefit.
Another problem is the files are categorized only from a list and not a search engine. It would be more practical to have the display show the contents as the iPad does for the 6000 sounds that Roland list on their Integra i7 sound module. They display the contents in a way that makes it easy to find a sound via a category such as Organ, Piano, Acoustic, etc. etc. One could apply this to the current midi files and display them in Straight Time, Swing, or Shuffle, and then further display them into 3/4 time, 4/4 time, or any additional time signature that the user has.
This would really make life a lot more pleasant with less cursing at that little arrow that is so hard to keep your mouse on after an hour or so.
I appreciate the sentiment, but isn’t the carpal tunnel in your wrist?
Always difficult to categorise MIDI grooves beyond the obvious time signature, swing/straight, original BPM, style in mind from the original drummer, source library, etc.
I like the list view as it presents beats from the same “song” together, same drummer, drumkit style, etc, but it would be good to be able to search the collection on the above categories plus instruments used. It would also be good to be able to add to this our own comments, previous use notes and bookmarks or “favourites”.
Best thing to do is put your thoughts and suggestions in writing in a more involved way and maybe it can be incorporated in a future version. Definitely room for improvement.
