Hi,
I am completely new to Superior drummer.
I’ve been using Sonar Home Studio 7 with SD. It seems to work fine but I noticed the drums sound different when I have the SD window active and I click on a drum in the Construct window vs when I have the step sequencer open in SHS7 and I click to play a drum there. I can see it activate the drum in the SD window and I am sure it is playing the same drum. But, in SHS7 the snare or the bass/kick for example loose a bit of the hollowness sound and don’t play as loud. It’s like they have a touch of reverb in SD and they loose that in the step sequencer in SHS7.
Shouldn’t it sound exactly the same?
Actually I just noticed the sound level seems to be lower in SHS7. It may just be that, but there is no way to equalize it between the two because raising it is also raising it in SD, so it always sounds louder in SD instead of the same.
Ok I raised the velocity in the sequencer from 1.00 to 1.40 and that seems to make them the same. But I shouldn’t have to do that should I ?
The preview volume when clicking on the kit piece is the highest velocity (127). If you’re MIDI isn’t triggering a 127 velocity, then it will, and should, sound different.

Thanks Scott,
Very good to know. Is there a way to lower the preview volume in SD for everything ?
No, the preview velicity is preset and not adjustable.

Hit the “classic view” tab in the construct window and the pads are all velocity selectable. The further towards the top of the pad, the higher the velocity triggered, the closer to the bottom, the lower the velocity.
Hope that helps.
