Bought EZKeys last week (finally) and I immediately decided to get the Pop/Rock addon. The latter didn’t make me too happy because it comes with midi clips that are too obviously some sort of finished songs (based on existing ones). I could create interesting and easily usable stuff with the demo (so the default midi clips) so I expected being able to do the same with the addon but whatever I did, things didn’t connect or, even worse, I got off notes and little ‘artistic additions’ that sounded totally off key and didn’t fit at ALL. They did fit in the unedited clips but as soon as you changed the chords, things went horribly wrong here and there and so I felt very limited in what I could do. (And the amount of clips was already pretty limited imho).
Anyway, I was wondering if you are planning to focus more on no nonsense addon midi clips for general use in the future for EZKeys? Who needs a variation of for instance ‘The way it is’ if hardly any other chords fit in it?
In the end I solved my problem by dragging the entire EXKey project into my DAW and I edited all the wrong notes, odd ghots notes, etc. out of it, or placed them to a more correct location. Maybe this is what I am supposed to do…?
Don’t get me wrong: I do not regret my purchase (of EZKeys itself) because it gives me more life like piano parts then if I would ‘play’ them myself, but I simply hoped the Pop/Rock addon would be of more general use. My experience with this one made me decide to not buy any other midi addons for now and obviously this limits me a bit in what I can do (and what I was expected being able to do).
So what I’d like to see are more basic rhythms and themes WITHOUT any real melody or fancy tricks in them which will make them more usable without having to spend an hour editing the midi. Think like EZDrummer where you get the same rhythm but with a different kick only: I’d like for instance to get the same right hand ballad movement but with variations in the bass alone (one note every first count, one note every first and third count, one note every first and 3.5 count, and so on. ANd then the same with the first bass note being the root one and the second being the root in one clip, but the 5th in the other. Small variations like that. If you know what I mean ).
