What about a mid sized Usb-midi Keyboard.?
You can have a whole kit assigned and play 3 finger drums easily
I have a little Korg Microkey 37 (mid size keys) note key board for portable and fast studio work .

Mainly mentioning this as it is way cheap at around $ 100

I have used a keyboard to trigger drums a while ago.
At least for me, pads feel a lot more natural when it comes to fills.
    But thanks for the suggestion.

The Good thing with the HPD 10-15 is they have pad inputs too so you can Have a Kick Drum and Snare too.
I have an HPP15 in its Box i got for $899 at a fire sale Brand New but i have not opened it yet.
    May just pass it on.

In the days of samplers (eg Akai) we used to use a DrumKat for hand percussion playing.

As far as I can tell you it is still very much current with spares and firmware upgrades, etc, but very much more expensive than the available mini-controllers available today.
