Dear Toontrack Team,
first thanks for presenting the free, small and easy to use VST-host application SOLO for SD and ED. This was a good determination.
Some questions to this:
Since version 1.32 in SOLO when you go to “options” > “audio” > “latency Settings” you will directly moved to the relevant ASIO driver settings from your ASIO soundcard (if selected) to change the buffer size settings inside this driver dialogue. Does it mean the previously internal minimal buffer size limitation from 64 samples in SOLO is now gone? (For example with PCIe RME cards down to 32 Samples) Wood be fine in periods with extremely fast computer’s equipped with potent core i5/7 multi cores. I think this new feature in version 1.32 is undocumented.
Under “options” > “controller” > “flip setup” what does this function do? This is also undocumented. Please inform.
And my friends from Toontrack did you ever used the SOLO metronome with activated all outputs to ASIO multi-out cards? (options > audio > audio output channels) Do you now what happens? The SOLO metronome sends in all output channels a signal This is absolutely insufficiently! A small dialogue box with audio routing settings for the metronome should not be a big thing.
And please think modern! To use a VSTi drum system on stage means a computer in a save 19″ case and maybe one 10″ touch screen (iPad feel) for controlling. And gentleman please try to use TT SOLO on a 10″ touch screen. Some buttons and faders are extremely small not usable! For example please look to Native Instruments “Guitar Rig” there is a “live mode” modus. And you will know what I mean. Of course same to Superior Drummer. Also the confused unlocked SD window position inside SOLO is absolutely dreadful! (Sometimes overlap the mixer view) We are living in 2012 and not in the 90th’s! Look please to Presonus Studio One and you can see how to handle well organized locked/docking and well scaled window settings inside a application.
Thank you very much

It flips the CC data for controllers working the opposite way but since you are a Superior 2 user, you shouldn’t use any of Toontrack solo’s Controller Options at all but only the built-in features of the plugin.

Dear John,
thanks much for this super fast reply! To buy a serious software means also purchasing a competent support area. that’s here!
Do you have also comments for the other questions and improvement details for SOLO in this thread?
Thank you

I haven’t seen support comment on feature suggestions before, so would not expect to see it here. Same with future releases, updates, etc.
Seems to be a Toontrack policy.

OK, Thanks for this information.
But just my first question is very important for using SOLO in real-time mode. And this is not a feature request it’s still there in 1.32 version. Before the last update to SOLO there was a limitation to minimum 64 samples buffer size settings. So again to this: Is this limitation in the up to date version gone? It might be significantly to have a VST host without latency buffers for real-time using.
Any official comment from Toontrack to this would be very usefully.

Solo uses whatever buffer size your soundcard is set to. Like you say, the selected soundcard settings window opens from the latency setting option in Solo to set the buffer size.

OK thanks to @Scott for clearing the facts in this case. Nice to here that we can use SOLO since version 1.32 without any internal latency limitations as one simple and easy to go VST host for Superior Drummer and EZdrummer. Fine! You should in this case updating the SOLO manual that there no more questions to this point.
Hopefully the Toontrack team also thinking about the metronome settings with using SOLO as multi-out configuration as described above.
And of course the Toontrack team might reconsider the complete graphical user interfaces for the next Toontrack software generation. Controlling a DAW/real-time systems with compact multi touch-screens coming more and more! You will see. In this case a complete reorganizing graphical user interface shout be one “must have” improvement.
And of course a dream would be if there is one musical software company which can announce a small, fast and super stably Audio/Multimedia operation system optimized for real-time processes compatible to VST instruments without needing ASIO or AudioCore standards. But surely, this is just a dream. Regretfully!
But what’s live without dreams?
