Ok, I know this sounds like an odd comparison, but I’m thinking about finally moving beyond the Pop/Rock kit that comes with EZDrummer, and I’ve heard great things about both Nashville and Metal Machine, so I think those are my top two possibilities and the moment. I don’t write metal music or country music, though. Most of my stuff veers more towards instrumental pop/rock. So I just want a good, versatile acoustic kit that will be an improvement over the old pop-rock kit. Are Metal Machine & Nashville useful outside of their designated genres? Does one sound strikingly better than the other? I’m also considering The Classic because the samples from that are quite impressive, too, but from what I heard of it, I’m afraid it might be a little too dry and understated for me (or maybe I just listened to the wrong samples?) I think I’d like something with a little more oomph.
Suggestions?
Thanks!

Do you have any youtube/mp3 examples to link to?
My first gut reaction is The Classic EZX. Good sounding kits that can be mixed to fit a vast array of styles.

Well, I’m a bit embarassed to post these, since I freely admit they could use some work, but these are two examples of the sort of thing I write:

These were done with the standard Pop/Rock kit that comes with EZ Drummer (in retrospect, maybe my description of my music “veering towards pop/rock” isn’t so accurate in this case, but I’m not sure how to describe it exactly.)
Any suggestions on what EZX packs would work well for this sort of thing?
Thanks.
After listening to those 2 examples I’d lean towards the Metal Machine EZX. Metal Machine is more than ‘metal’. The Ludwig kit is great for classic rock type stuff. The Tama kit is a bit more ‘metal’ sounding (the Classic Bubinga kick drum). Personally, I think the Quillted Sapele Bubinga kick drum is a bit ’rounder’ and fits more styles.

Thanks for the advice. I was kind of leaning towards Metal Machine, too (well, I HAD been leaning towards Nashville for several months, but then I saw some YouTube clips of Metal Machine a few days ago, and absolutely loved the sound of it. I just feared that it might be too heavily skewed towards metal.)
