Got the new Roland TD 30 K and boy oh boy it’s a sweet kit! The included sound module sounds great but I want to record/work with Superior (which I’ve been doing for some time w/out an e-kit) and was hoping for some “fine-tuning advice.”
I’ve already got the kit and Superior linked up and all the respective pads are triggering the right kit pieces, BUT, things feel and sound a bit choppy.
I’ve got my latency set to 32 with about 1.6 ms of lag which is pretty good so I don’t think the issue is that.
For example, when I hit my toms on a roll they respond quickly but sometimes the single hits will have some lag as if the sample is loading (though we are talking ms) it’s still noticeable to my ear.
Also, the hi hat sounds/plays pretty awful–I have to give the hi hat pad a good whacking to really get sound out of it–by which i mean that nuanced hits don’t trigger samples, i have to hit harder. Any tips?
All fine tuning advice is MUCH appreciated!!
Im not sure but doesn’t the new roland supernatural kit have all pads that are positional, even the toms, i’m not sure if you want that happening on toms or snare when triggering SD2.Just a thought.
With the Hats perhaps some tweaking in SD2 to find a dynamic response that will give you what you want.
