I’m trying to weigh up between Ezdrummer and SD2.0 for use with edrums. I really can’t see myself using the extra benefits from SD2.0 and having had a bit of a play with a freinds EZdrummer hosted through cubase and it felt and sounded pretty good. The only thing I noticed was that sensitivity and threshold adjustments done on my TD-6 module didn’t always seem to make a difference to how the drums played in the software. The feel was pretty good but there were a couple of things I would have liked to tweak. Would hosting the software through Solo help this?…..Is there actually adjustment controls for sensitivity and threshold. I would prefer not to have to get SD if there is another way of fixing this, not neccesarily becasue of the extra cost but because i’m kinda lazy and thinking makes my brain hurt, EZ looks a lot more straight forward for lazy non thinkers.
Having a daw is great but i would like to correct one thing for you .
SD2 is made for E-Drumming whereas EZDrummer on that level has less options for tweaking of not only response but individual parameters, individual sounds.
SD2 has Mapping and velocity curves too which EZ simply does not have, sure EZ will work but SD2 is made for the job.
Also your friend may have had a Velocity setting after the Edrums but on the instrument track infront of EZ Drummer that may have been making all hits at max velocity.
Thats fun for 5 minutes but then you want to do some real playing and it needs to be set so what you play is what you get, make no mistake All TT’s product responds Seamlessly fro the softest hit all the way up to max and is excellent at doing so.
Also
All Ez Kits and SD2 kits load up sounding very ready in SD2 and just as EZ ,it may seem more complex but really only when you need to tweeq it you may use that deeper controland youll be happy its there.
……you’re probably right. I guess better to have more and need less than the other way around. Getting going with EZ just seemed so……well EZ, hopefully SD2 won’t be as daunting as I think. I just got the impression from a number of forum posts that even with the option for edrum presets, SD2 needed a lot more initial adjustments to get going, particularly when you’re setting it up for a specific module.
Try thinking about this.
If you load up EZx’s in SD2 they still will sound the same no setup needed.
Most SDX’s sound excellent perhaps more raw ( a good thing) have presets with no setup needed straight out of the box,
the main difference is if there are problems with Triggers there nothing you can do in EZ to really combat or tweeq .
