I just got EZD and I am using a Roland TD 20 to generate MIDI. I cannot get the open HH to function correctly. The open HH is like semi open. Also if you hit the crash softly you get the same sound as if you hit it hard. This is a problem because the vibration of hitting the pads cause a midi note to be generated and the sound out from the crash is loud. I do not understand why I cannot get this to function properly. I love the sounds but the articulation is very poor. Please help. so I can get this resolved. I bought an Vintage Rock expansion kit and the cymbal problem is even worse. I am afraid I am just dumping money.
Hi,
first make sure your software is updated to the latest version, which currently is 1.3.0 for EZdrummer and 1.3.1 for Toontrack solo.
Next, using Toontrack solo as your host, please select the ‘E-drum’ controller option in the Toontrack solo menu.
Is your TD-20 at Factory Settings?

Hi John, All settings are factory except the HH Note# Border that I changed to 90. I checked all the TD20 notes and they match up to the map in EZD. Still the open HH is not really open, semi open. Also the crash issue is also a problem. Why when you hardly strike it is the same loudness as hitting it hard. This is a problem for fasle triggering.
I tried solo and it is even worse. When changed to edrums the HH does not function properly at all. Both are the current version.
Hi,
first of all, EZdrummer is only supported for E-drum use together with Toontrack solo and it demands that your Roland module is @ Factory Settings. Then you need to select the ‘E-drum’ MIDI Controller option which sets up the necessary Input transform for proper triggering and HH control in particular.
IOW, if you’re an E-drum user, this is a must since the HH will not trigger and open/close properly.
I’m a TD-12 user and all that is needed is to open Toontrack solo, load EZdrummer and select the ‘E-drum’ MIDI Controller.
If you get funky (as in: not so good) behavior, I’d suggest resetting to Factory Settings (making sure you have backed up stuff you wish to keep in the module) and also check cables.
It really should be that simple.
If you need more control over your E-drum experience/performance, I suggest looking at cross grading to Superior 2.

John

Will superior drummer have better articulation and control of all sounds. EZD seems very basic and fixed to me with not any control. Like I said before the midi setting are factory expect for the one setting I told you before. What about the Crash issue and triggering?
To be honest I am not very happy at this point about the lack of support for eDrums. I paid all this money and it looks like I have to go to SD to do what I want. I read everything before I purchased and now I am stuck with something that does not meet my needs. I also bought the Vintage rock set, more money down the drain. It sounds like SD is the way to go but the upgrade cost really does not relfect what I already paid. Needless to say I am not happy at all.
Yes,
Superior 2 has extensive control over articulations, sounds and performance. Superior 2 is a product aimed at and marketed for E-drummers which EZdrummer isn’t. You can use it with E-drums but under the above mentioned conditions.
There really isn’t any more to it than I have already mentioned, so mis-triggering or Velocity errors would be searched for outside the plugin i.e. module, cables and MIDI interface.
Vintage Rock can be used with Superior 2, so I wouldn’t call it wasted money.
BR,
John
