I just bought an acoustic drumset, and am I thinking of recording it. I only have 2 pre-amp ins in my interface. so, would drumtracker work with the following setup:
a pair of mics recording either OH or over-the-shoulder position, make at least 2 extra copies of the recording(for replacing snare and kick), LPF one (for kick) and BPF at suitable frequencies (for snare) and have drumtracker work on those?
I’m aware drumtracker is not meant to work that way, but is it doable?
Hi,
of course I can’t guarantee good results but I have tried myself on a few songs to extract the drums out of OH and Room microphones and got surprisingly good results. It all depends on how your source files sound.
Some manual work on the Triggers is bound to happen.

Even if your are or are not intending those mics to be in the final mix you should sit one close outside and from your Kick Drum reso head and the other closer to your snare as you described this will help along with EQ for isolating elements.
Other then that i would just close mic them instead.
EQ / Filtering Worked well for me in Logic when re voicing drums from a mono demo drum track.
