this drum track is EZD stock rock kit, but with funkmasters loops.
i just purchased superior upgrade, so this will probably be updated with that, as soon as i learn how to use it!
LOL
this is the 1st song i’ve recorded using my vintage Ibanez Artist i just purchased.
the story behind the song, is that back in 1979, i bought a brand new ibanez artist, and gigged with it for about 5 years, before i sold it to purchase my carvin. i had always regretted letting that guitar go, and just a few weeks ago, i found a 1977 ibanez artist, almost just like my original one, and i just had to nab it.
so, the song is telling the story in 3 parts…
1st part, the search for the guitar
2nd part, the recollection of the sound and feel of the original guitar
3rd part, celebration of the new found guitar.
hehehe
simple.
all the guitar parts are the ibanez artist thru a ’81 mesa boogie mark2b head, avatar closed back cab with a Heritage Celestion g12-h55.
all guitar parts are double miced, using a ADK Hamburg as a ‘room mic’ on one side, and the Palmer Junction direct on the other side, typical for all 3 guitar parts.
the mic signal is fed thru an analog DBX compressor and tube mic preamp before hitting the convertor.
bass was double tracked, using the Sansamp Bass DI as a splitter- one track straight off the Sansamp, and the other split to my mesa boogie (tweaked for the bass)- mic was fed thru an analog DBX compressor and tube mic preamp before hitting the convertor., and the 2 tracks were blended to one bass buss, with compression and limiting on it.
the ’77 artist:
just got the superior 2.0 package…..
how easy is it to convert this EZD tune, into using the new superior package?
just as easy as a synth insert and re-direct on the midi track in my daw? (sonar)
Kewl guitar! I really like it.
As for the tune – it’s a nice groove. Nice playing as well.
I can dig it, and thank you for sharing it with us!
Some really funjky harmonies goin’ on in there
Good stuff

well, i got superior loaded.
re-did the drums on this, with the new AVATAR studio kit….
sounds great.
24 bit files DO make a difference.
AND
the files are more ‘raw’ sounding than the ezdrummer.
meaning, i can’t just take the stock sounds and run with them…
i’ve got to treat each and every piece of the kit as if it were a studio recording…
most all the pieces need EQ, Compression, and at times, high/low pass, and then routing to appropriate sub busses with levels of eq and compression/limiting on them.
i experimented most of the weekend, with different scenarios, it’s going to take a while, for me to determine what works best, because there are so many options.
for example, there are (3) kick drum ouputs.
one is sub mic, the other two are inside and outside mics.
they completely interact with each other, and the sub is very powerful.
if you’re not careful, with a raw sub track, it will DESTROY your headroom!!
LOL
learned that the hard way.
i never had SUB mic tracks on drums before, in analog, so that really is a new trick for me.
but man, does it round out the kick sound nicely.
very dangerous.
so, i’m going to re-tweak this one altogether, and compare the versions.
but i’m digging superior so far.
gonna have to up my RAM tho, i’m getting dropouts from using a huge kit and tons of bleeds….
