Hi all. I have SD2 with nothing but the full kit and I think 2 other kits. I’d like some feedback as to what the best add-on would be so I could make, say, a Neil Peartesque kit. I’d like to have approximately 8 toms ranging from oh, maybe a 6″ all the way down to as big of a floor tom as I can get. I also want to be able to add things like a set of Granite blocks, picolo tom, and various effect cymbals and a few other bells and whistles. I tried tuning up the existing toms on SD2 and, as you can imagine, it was a traumatic experience. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I would have a look through the kit pieces for all the SDX’s (they’re on the web site). Choose one that has the type of additional drums/cymbals that you want.
I wouldn’t worry about the name of the SDX – just choose the pieces you want. TMF doesn’t have to be for metal and Music City doesn’t have to be for country etc. Remember you can also use EZXs with Superior too.
When you mix pieces from different sets, you’ll use x-drums – so you’ll be mixing up different room sounds. To keep things more “realistic” you’ll probably be better downplaying the “room” sounds (ie ambience) and going for a “drier” sound on your “super kit”
