Is anyone else seeing poor performance in WIN7 64?
I can’t load more than one track without it locking up on me.
Even closing the program is freezing it and needs Windows to force the shutdown.

Yeah, c’mon – I thought I was a relatively late Win7 adopter; with the recent WaveLab update being supported on Win7 only, I’ve just bought my XP -> Win7 upgrade and have been sifting through all my programs & VST’s to make sure of 64-bit compatibility, but it looks like I’m going to be losing out on DT use for the immediate future at least.
Am I going to have to go Drumagog when 5 comes out at the end of the month?
I am having a similar issue with DT, I am using windows 7 32bit, w 4gigs of ram and an AMD Phenom II x4 processor. My computer is a beast and runs massive amounts of plugins and tracks!! BUT DT is constantly hanging when I import tracks or switching to other inputs in the DT program. It also hangs when I go to shut it down until windows gives me the NOT RESPONDING note to shut down or wait. When I am importing tracks into DT I literally have to wait about 10-15 minutes before it finishes. The import percentage is finished and off the screen but the program itself is just hanging. Just my 2 cents on a weird situation.
Curranproducer,
are you using Drumtracker version 1.0.2?
What kind of audio interface are you using?

I am updates to 102 DT and I am using an RME hammerfall 52/96. HOWEVER the DT is only seeing the on board sound cards from the motherboard. I am able to get some renders done BUT it takes forever, and I can’t hear any of the playback
OK,
are you updated on the drivers for the RME?

Ok, I’m in the early stages of trying out my workstation software on a 64-bit OS. I would like to migrate early in the new year when work is quiet.
The MAIN REASON I’m doing this is to get more RAM available for SD2.
DT is part of my workflow for some of the jobs I do with drum replacement using SD2; I’m quire alarmed that there seems to be no progress with DT and 64-bit OS’, I’d prefer not to have to abandon it in favour of something non-TT, but you’re not giving me much confidence.
If this product is no longer to be developed, could someone do the decent thing and let me know, so I can find a replacement in good time?
What would others recommend as a useable replacement to DT please? The only one I know is Drumagog -I see Pat Thrall is using it with SD

I recently had to move to Windows 7 64-bit so I could upgrade to a quad core and 8GB RAM since my customers, and my own projects, are exceeding XP’s 3GB RAM limitation. This whole process has been less than enjoyable as far as getting all my TT products working. SD was a pain to install, but that isn’t what this post is about. Fast forward to all products finally working minus Drumtracker. I too was getting the freezing and in general horrible performance that all have described thus far. After much fiddling I have gotten it to run enough so that I don’t want to scream anymore.
Here is what I did.
(Note: Compatibility mode doesn’t work at all, so if you have it on turn it off.)
1) Get task manager running (ctrl+alt+del) and open the processes tab.
2) Launch drumtracker (don’t load a session yet) and look for drumtracker.exe *32 in the processes list of Task Manager.
3) Right click on the process and select “Set Priority” and set it to “Below Normal”
4) Right click on the process and select “Set Affinity” and turn off processor 3 and 4 if you are using a Quad core. You only want 2 CPU’s running (CPU 0 and CPU 1)
Now you can use Drumtracker and it should respond better, it will still freeze momentarily here and there but it recovers decently quick. I tested with a 6 layer session that had a ton of editing and custom filters. Hopefully this helps until TT gets the new 64 bit version out. *HINT HINT ToonTrack*
Unfortunately you have to do this every time you launch it but it’s pretty easy and doesn’t take long once you get the hang of it.
