Hi,
I run Cubase Essentials 4 and sometimes have a problem with a stuttering DAW. Most often it happens when I’ve got several soundtracks in the same song.
Can it be a hardware problem?
Motherboard: HP and Compaq Desktop PCs – P5LP-LE (Emery). Processor: DualCore Intel Pentium D 945, 3400 MHz (17 x 200). Hard disk: 7200 rpm. RAM: 3 MB.
So, what can be the crucial problem? I suspect that the processor and RAM are OK, but the rest?
Grateful for tips!

Most likely it would be the H/W Buffer Size. Set too low, it can create what you’re describing when there is a busy arrangement.

When I mix I set the buffer size in the device setup at maximum 1764 samples; when I record I set it at minimum to keep the latency low.

Do you have a wireless network adapter activated? That could cause problems.
