According to the install instructions, for my system (Windows 7 64-bit with Sonar 8.5 64-bit) I should first run the 32-bit updater, then the 64-bit updater. The 32-bit updater runs successfully, then when I run the 64-bit updater I get this message: “Error 1606. Could not access network location Toontrack64bit”
The instructions say to “point the 64-bit updater to the dedicated VST plugins folder”. The updater does not give me this option. When I run it, it unpacks the files then gives the above error message.
that would be because you have run the public beta in the past. Did you move the dll at any point? anyway, just use your OS ‘Programs & Features’ control panel to remove ‘EZdrummer 64 bit’ (NOT the one marked ‘EZdrummer’) then install the new 64 bit version fresh.

This is the first time I’ve tried installing the 64-bit version. The 64-bit updater said it didn’t install properly, so EZdrummer 64 is not even listed in the Control Panel programs list. I have never made any manual changes to any EZdrummer files, the program has always worked fine.
Ok, I got it working. I first needed to manually create the VST folder path to get the 64-bit updater to work:
C:Program FilesVstPluginsToontrack64bit
If this path doesn’t already exist, the 64-bit updater responds with Error 1606 and you never see the dialogue box that gives you the option of selecting a VST folder location.
well, this may be so for you yes. Error 1606 are typical of systems with compromised registry entries as a result of upgrading OSes, i.e not a fresh install of Vista or Win 7… would that be the case for you (that you upgraded from XP perhaps)?

No upgraded OS here; I installed Win 7 fresh on a reformatted hard drive, and I’ve never seen error 1606 before. BTW, this is the first hiccup I’ve had with a Toontrack update.
