A most gracious hello to all.
New user to Presonus Studio One Artist’s EZ Drummer lite.
I am a Midi challenged 57 yr old.
I use a Trapkat XL drum trigger pad midi’d to a Roland TD-12 for live gigs.
Like this:
Am wanting to use the KAT direct into my Presonus Firestudio Project’s midi input into S1’s EZ drummer.
I have registered my lite version, BUT have not gotten the KAT hooked up yet.
So I did mouse clicks on the EZd’s instruments in the “drumkit” window.
Noticing the crash cymbals and rack toms don’t work…drop-down menu is “grayed out”.
Snare, kick, hat, and floor tom work fine.
Is this a limitation of the LITE version?
Next question is, once I get all drums working with the mouse, will I be able to midi in to Studio One via the Trapkat, open a track, drag EZd into that track, assign the trapkat to the channel as an instrument, and be able to change midi notes on the kat, finding the notes within EZd?
If I can get everything to work with Artist, and can use EZd for live gigs, I want to upgrade to the full version.
I hope this is enough clear info to start the discussion.
Thanks for any help with either question.

It certainly is.

yes, you can use the reference chart available from ‘?’ Help menu in EZdrummer to find your way.

EZ Lite limitations are stated in the ReadMe that comes with the Lite version, unless it is not included by Presonus although I’m relatively sure it is. If not, you might want to read about further limitations here:

Thanks Rogue.
Gee whiz…that’s pretty Lite!
So then if I buy the full version of EZD, can I open it and access it WITHOUT going into Studio One Artist?
In other words, can the TrapKAT access the sounds directly without any other programs running?
As is, I can’t find a way into EZD without S1 Artist running.
Nevermind…found the answer here:
The plugin requires a VST, AU or RTAS compatible software sequencer or virtual instrument host to run (see http://www.toontrack.com/ezd_lite.asp for details).
EZdrummer can also be hosted in http://www.toontrack.com/product/toontrack-solo/.

Thanks Scott, that is very pertinent information!
Free is nice too.
It amazes me, the limitations companies put on Lite versions like EZD.
Vegas gives a full 30 days of full functionality to those interested, as well as it’s own users.
I’ve given them over $1000 in upgrades, etc.
It pays to be generous.
