    Ehm, actually it doesn’t.
You write that you understand how to set the hihat up and then that you have the open edge setting to Open 5. Which to me sounds like you haven’t set it up correctly.
It is the CC4 data being sent that controls the level of openness. The notes from your module should only be connected to the correct ‘Trig’ notes respectively, not any specific articulation, like ‘Open5’.

E.g. if you have an edge closed and edge open note being sent, they should both be assigned to ‘hatsTrig’ and no other articulation. If you have a bell closed and bell open note, they should be assigned to ‘hatsBellTrig’.
This is is set up in the mapping page’s ‘MIDI > Presets > Note Mapping > E-drums’ Preset. Although it presumes your module is GM compliant and I’m slightly unsure if your module is.

John – thanks for your reply…
Clearly – It would appear that I have no idea then

OK – so last night I removed ALL the ‘other’ articulations on the hats / completely emptied the hats of all sounds and then I did this…..

I selected ‘HatsTrig’ articulation, I highlighted edit articulation only’ and ‘learnt’ the EDGE of my hat in a CLOSED position, and then also learnt the EDGE of my hats in a CLOSED position.

I selected ‘HatstipTrig’ articulation, I highlighted edit articulation only’ and ‘learnt’ the BOW of my hat in a CLOSED position, and then also learnt the BOW of my hats in a CLOSED position.

After this the hats DID seem to operate a whole lot better but (although I am still unsure if I did what you meant me to do) but I now have these issues……

    * My foot closed chik sound is VERY low
    * My OPEN hats sounds are VERY loud

Any further assistance is/ will be appreciated

Have you tried simply, using the yamah ekit, at its factory settings, and then just selecting the EDRUMS preset under MAPPING ..and then trying the PEDAL CORRECTION CURVES.

I have the cheapest Yamaha Kit, the DTXplorer. If I do just what I described above, all the mapping, and functionality is there.

    cheers

    Thanks Wiz,

    No I haven’t done that.
Maybe I should huh as I guess that is also what John was indicating.

Sorry, as you can tell by my post count I am very fresh to this and finding it is a STEEP learning curve.
I appreciate all reply’s and apologise for any ignorance at this early stage.

    Thanks for that Wiz.

Now that I have watched that I realise that I have actually done that ( numerous times in frustration ) and it doesn’t work for me.
It puts a conga/bongo sound on my hat edge and doesn’t allocate ANY sounds to my main 2 cymbals at all.

The Kick, all toms and the snare are fine though.

THAT’S why I started then doing all the individual articulations.

Does that happen, even with the Yamaha set at its factory settings?

    Hi Wiz,

    Yeah it must?
The ONLY thing I have done to my module is to copy Preset Kit 1 to User Kit 1 and rename it.
Other than that – no changes to my module.

To make 100% sure I am more than happy to reset the module and try the SD2.0 mapping preset again and report back.

    How?
There aren’t any percussion sounds in the Superior SDX:s. I.e. you must be triggering another drum/percussion module.
But please perform the Factory Reset as suggested by Wiz.<-nice video, BTW.

Yeah I know John – I ALWAYS get the crazy issues mate – I do have the Latin Percussion Addon pack installed so maybe SOMEHOW its grabbing from that.

I did reset the module tonight and it DEFINITELY does not map straight from / to the DTX900.
Its the same issues as described earlier, so I guess I will map manually and save as a preset?

Hope I can work out this hat issue but

    Hi wotto,

unless you intentionally load the expansion or create X-drums containing percussion, there is no way the plugin can accidentally play back percussion sounds.
Please make sure you are actually triggering Superior 2.2.1 (only) and not another virtual instrument.

    Best Regards,
    John

    Thanks all,

I kind of got this together last night a little better.
I re-learnt the HatsTrig and HatstipTrig and then went to the mapping page and played around with the velocity settings for each articulation.
It’s a LOT better than what I had it the other night and is not triggering strange sounds anymore.

I saved my map as a user Preset and have been able to successfully load my settings into any kit I dial up from any expansion pack.

    So far so good.

    Thanks again everyone

    Wotto
