Forgive me for bringing this up again (lots of posts I’ve read on this subject), but I’m having issues getting the hi hats to work and I’m fairly sure I’m the problem. The word MIDIot definitely applies to me….
I have a Roland TD20 with VH12 hats. If I go into SD and use the ‘learn’ function to edit the different hi hat articulations, it seems like they’re overwriting themselves. In other words, if I use ‘learn’ to set Closed Tip and Tight Tip, it will only play Tight Tip moving forwards. I have hatsCtrl set to CC4 which I’m assuming is correct, but it’s as if SD isn’t taking that data into consideration – BTW I’m not even sure that’s how it’s supposed to work.
What is the correct way to edit the different hi hat articulations?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi,
if you have the latest version of Superior (2.1) you actually do not need to go through the Hi-hat learning process.
Simply start with navigating to the Load/Save Menu > MIDI > Note Mapping > E-Drums. Selecting the E-Drums MIDI Preset will not only set up your pad notes but also the Hi-hat.
Some notes will require learning, like your Floor Tom rim but it is much easier to start from this E-Drum MIDI Preset than from scratch.
When you are done, do not forget to save your work as a new MIDI Preset! Which you can recall instantly when starting with a completely different Project/Kit.
Best Regards,
John
