I know that my Korg PadKontrol isn’t a real edrum but my question is about using the ‘hatsTrig’ and the ‘hatsTipTrig’ articulations.
I’m trying to set up a sustain pedal with my PadKontrol to open/close the hihat…I know I can’t get the different open sounds but mostly it’s an experiment to see if this works.
Anyway, I unloaded all hihat articualtions by hitting ‘Remove’ for them all. Then, I’ve got 2 keys on the PadKontrol…1 mapped to ‘hatsTrig’ and the other mapped to ‘hatsTipTrig’. I set up the pedal to send cc4 and things work like I expected…doesn’t happen often but I take it when I get it…Press the pedal and get closed sound and pedal up get open sound…cool…
My question is this. I noticed that the ‘closed’ sound isn’t the regular ‘closed’ articulation it is the ‘tight’ articualtion and that the ‘closed tip’ sound is actually ‘tight tip’. Is this the way it’s supposed to be? Isn’t it alittle backwards? I think of the ‘tight’ articualtions as specialized hits but wouldn’t expect them as a default sound.
So, how do I get a regular ‘closed’ sound while still using the ‘hatsTrig’ so I can use my pedal and not hear the default ‘tight’ sound?

Select the hatsCtlr articulation, check “Edit Articulation Only” and lower the Velocity CTRL “Limit” field until the tight sounds are trimmed out (it happens on my setup at ‘125’)
